DSN’s new training department
The word incus stands for ‘include us’ and our new training department aims to do just this, foster inclusivity by promoting awareness, understanding and communication skills to engage with people with sensory loss.
Our Services
We are a Signature approved centre, meaning all qualifications are regulated by Ofqual and ensure the quality of learning demonstrated will meet the requirements of the UK Occupational Language Standards for each level.
Our courses are usually delivered face-to-face at one of our training centres or a local venue (Cheshire, Wrexham, Flintshire) or online.
We currently offer a variety of courses including:

Incus in Care
British Sign Language
We offer a range of courses for individuals and groups to learn British Sign Language (BSL). We can create bespoke short courses as well as the accredited courses from Level 1 to Diploma Level 6.
Deaf Awareness
We offer a range of deaf and sensory awareness courses to suit your needs, from introductory webinars to live face to face training. We specialise in bespoke courses, where we ensure you will get the most out of what you need from the deaf awareness course.
Lip Reading
Our lip-reading courses run in 8 week blocks, 2 hours per week which consists of 1 hour lesson and 1 hour social and practice time! Register your interest to join a lip reading course near you.

Our Team
All of our staff are experts in their subject and crucially, also have personal experience of sensory loss in all its forms.
Our trainers are professional, highly experienced, knowledgeable and trustworthy and our aim is to give our delegates the best experience on their learning journey.
incus recently provided Deaf Awareness Training to the North of England Region for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Jenna and Carol were really helpful in organizing the training to suit our region and coordinated everything from the format, the dates, the zoom links and the pre and post course admin. The training on the day ran very smoothly and the staff team enjoyed the delivery and the content, and the feedback I have received has all been very positive. I would recommend their course to anyone.

We are delighted to be partnering with Deafness Support Network (DSN) for the launch of SignUp UK, providing British Sign Language (BSL) captioning on Disney+ movies. DSN approached SignUp and have been instrumental in our launch in the UK, the first country outside the United States where we have offered our service. DSN has provided a wonderful introduction to the Deaf community in the UK and has recruited an impressive group of BSL interpreters to work on movies for us. We are excited about what SignUp UK will become and very grateful to DSN for their support and enthusiasm.
